Flops of the world cup

Fernando Torres: Matador lovers had big expectations from him, but he couldn’t score a single goal so far. I hope he does against Germany!

Felipe Melo: By scoring an own goal and getting a silly red card, Melo was the main reason his team got defeated by Netherlands.

Diego Armando Maradona:
I have always thought that being a great player doesn’t necessarily make you a good coach! I think Maradona should have stayed away from football to keep his image as the all time best footballer. I still love you a lot though!

Italy:
As one of the biggest Azzurrie lovers, the least I can say about this team is that it was a disgrace to the Italian football history.

Referees:
After what happened in 2010 World Cup, I think FIFA should seriously consider introducing video technology into football games so that referees avoid those fatal mistakes.

France:
very weak coach in terms of techniques and tactics, Irresponsible players, a team with no loyalty and respect for their own country.

Tops of the World Cup

David Villa: Outstanding performance throughout the entire tournament. He helped his team qualifying to the next round and then to the semi final. With this spectacular goal scoring abilities, he will defiantly lead his team to their first world cup trophy.

GHANA: Even though they lost their quarter final game against Uruguay, every single Ghanaian person should be proud of this African young team that was the closest from making Africa’s dream true! I’m sure if it wasn’t for bad luck and lack of experience, Ghana could have made it to the final!

Germany: Determination and persistence in the German players, I have never seen them in any other team. They know exactly what they want, and they believe they can get it.

Joachim Loww, the veteran coach of Germany, has used the mix of youth “Muller, Ozil, Podolsky” and experience “Lahm, Schweinsteiger, klose” to form this tough team.

Suarez: He is like the SUPER hero in Uruguay, although what he did was absolutely unethical. I was supporting Ghana and I was very pissed when the incident happened, but when I sat and thought about it, I realized that he did a mistake, got punished for it, but his team have a chance winning the world cup! So I think he deserved to be at the top!

Algeria: Although they went out from the group stage, but they made every single Arabic person proud. I believe they did a great job for playing in this strong group of England, USA, and Slovenia. I also believe that this team will come back even stronger the next world cup.

@mzaher: Even though he doesn’t know shit about football, I have to give him credit for analyzing and predicting most of the results. Everything he said so far is so true! I hope Germany doesn’t win the world cup though!

Fabregas shouldn’t leave!

Arsenal’s Captain Cesc Fabregas, who started his career in Barcelona’s youth team along with Lionel Messi and Anderias Iniesta, is one of the best center midfielders nowadays. When you see him play, although he is only 23 years old, you get the feeling that you are watching an experienced midfielder who has been playing in this position for at least 10 years. He tackles, passes, shoots and leads in a spectacular unique way. That is why I call him Cesc “Fabulous”.

Fabregas’ expected move, from Arsenal to Barcelona, is a fat subject for rumors this summer. Personally speaking, I don’t think Fabregas should leave Arsenal and go to FC Barcelona for 2 reasons.

First, he got the captaincy of Arsenal when he was only 21 years old, which made him the youngest captain in the history of the club. What an accomplishment!

To Arsenal fans, Fabregas is the spirit of the team. After Henry’s departure to Barcelona, he is the most valuable player in Arsenal. I believe that if he decides to stay for another 5 years or more, he will definitely take Henry’s place and be the all time best player of arsenal.

Second, Barcelona is a complete team that has 5 of the best midfielders in Spain, if not the Best in the world. Pep Guardiola, coach of Barcelona, uses the “4-3-3” formation, and with Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Seydou Keita and Yaya Toure, I don’t think it will be an easy job for Cesc to reserve a position in the first squad. Xavi Hernandiz is the heart of Barcelona and Fabregas plays in the same position. So if he ever moves to Barcelona while Xavi is still playing, he will defiantly be a substitute for Xavi Hernandiz.

I don’t think it is logical to move from being a 23 years old captain of one of the biggest EPL teams, to a substitute!! I understand his desire to go back to Barcelona and I don’t mind it. I just think that he should wait for the right time that will make him the best successor for Xavi in the Catalan’s Club.

Dunga’s Brazil

When you speak about Brazil’s defense, the name Carlos Dunga has to come to your mind. He was one of the best Brazilian defenders along with Roberto Carlos and Cafu. As a player, he was the world champion with Brazil in world cup 1994, and champion of the FIFA confederations cup 1997. As a coach, he won the Coppa America 2007 and again the FIFA confederations cup 2009, although he had no previous coaching experience when he started coaching Brazil for the first time.

Dunga, the manager of the Brazilian national team, is risking his history by not calling 2 of the most influential Brazilian stars recently. Dunga refused to listen to press, players, fans and whoever asked him to call Ronaldinho and Pato to the 2010 world cup squad. It was very obvious that Ronaldinho and Pato deserved to play for the Brazilian national team.

Yesterday, Brazil played their first game in the South African World cup against North Korea. Whoever watched yesterday’s game would have noticed that it wasn’t The Brazil we all know. I understand his defensive mentality, but he should consider that Brazil was, is and will always be an offensive team. Furious fans of the Brazilian samba will never forgive him if he doesn’t come back with the world cup trophy. Let us wait and see.
